Our dedicated teams of advisors have been busy promoting the Stoptober 2015 campaign across the country, throughout Berkshire, Blackpool, Buckinghamshire, Camden, Croydon, Haringey, Oxfordshire, Somerset, West Sussex and North Lincolnshire.
Stoptober is a national campaign encouraging people all across the country to stop smoking for 28 days (and beyond) from the 1st October. Stoptober 2015 starts on Thursday 1st October and runs for 28 days but registration to take part is open from 3rd September to allow smokers time to prepare for their quit attempt. To sign up and access the free and proven support materials visit: www.smokefree.nhs.uk/Stoptober
Research shows that if a smoker quits for 28 days, they are 5 times more likely to quit for good.
It does not matter how many times you have tried to quit, this time it could be for good. The best chance you can give yourself is by signing up to Stoptober with the support of your local Stop Smoking Service. Support is free and effective.
Last year over a quarter of a million people signed up to the challenge so you will definitely not be alone!
This year’s Stoptober theme is comedy which is being used to help increase interest and motivate people during their quit attempt to make their experience easier.
Supporting this year’s national campaign are comedians Bill Bailey, Rhod Gilbert, Al Murray and Shappi Khorsandi. There is also a wealth of quitting aids available, including a mobile phone app to help smokers realise their goal and help them to succeed.
A wide range of support is available in various regions across the country. For local Stoptober support click on the logo for your area to be directed to your local website. An advisor will inform you of your options for local support through your GP, pharmacy or Stop Smoking Service.
