I welcome the fact that organisations like Solutions 4 Health are linking in with schools and colleges to help create the best opportunities for young people to succeed in their chosen field of study. We are pleased to announce the official launch of our Education 4 Health Innovation and Technology Hub by Theresa May, Home Secretary at BCA (Berkshire College of Agriculture) on Monday 22nd September.

This initiative has been designed with a focus on preparing young people, tomorrow’s workforce for their future careers in healthcare.

For BCA’s health and social care curriculum, Solutions 4 Health are supplying their digital platform and several sets of wireless monitoring devices that monitor and record clinical vital signs of patients or ‘service users’ such as blood pressure and weight.  Additional tools are planned for cognitive behaviour therapy and mental health, and social care resources which will be made available on the MySelfCare technology enabled care service (TECS) during the college year.

The event was opened with a speech by Gillian May, Principal, BCA who emphasised the fact that this partnership will help young people to develop their ambitions for a successful career within the healthcare industry. The Berkshire College of Agriculture has now diversified the courses they offer to students at the college to give them the best opportunities to succeed.

She said: “I am delighted that BCA has the opportunity to work with business partners to support our curriculum. This innovation will enable the students at BCA to understand and work with the new technology currently being developed in the health and social care sector, building their understanding and work readiness.”

BFC_7845-39Embedding our MySelfCare platform into the health and social care curriculum will provide an integrated learning platform that will not only equip young people with the experience and confidence to use technology in the future, but also give them a head start in their future careers within the health sector.

Students on the health and social care course at the college had the opportunity to sit down with Theresa May to demonstrate how the technology will enable patients to manage their condition in their own homes.

Theresa May, Home Secretary, MP said “It was great to visit BCA and see the Education 4 Health initiative. A first year health and social care student at BCA said: “This technology will make the client feel more confident in their own homes to manage their health.”

“We are all very excited about the scheme and how it will empower people in the community” – second year health and social care student at BCA.

Kishore Sankla, Chief Executive, Solutions 4 Health said: “We are pleased to be working with BCA in developing their health and social care curriculum as part of our vision to support young people coming into the health and social care profession. BFC_8008-106MySelfCare allows health professionals and patients to take their care to a new level, instilling confidence and independence in individuals with long term conditions. The outcomes of the collaboration will be better prepared young people, increased awareness of the need to integrate technology with health and social care for better results in preventative health.

As part of our vision to support young people, this scheme will be rolled out to other colleges in Berkshire in the New Year, and then nationally.
