We are pleased to be the new provider for the Haringey Specialist Stop Smoking service.
We will be working with and training a range of partners to raise awareness and sign post eligible clients to the stop-smoking service, with the overall aim of reducing smoking prevalence within the borough.
We will do this by providing an evidence based, easily accessible, high quality stop smoking service for Haringey residents with a focus on targeting and engaging with the following priority groups to help them undertake a successful quit attempt:
- Routine & Manual workers
- Pregnant women & new mothers
- Black & minority ethnic groups (BME) including mixed, Chinese, Turkish & Kurdish ethnicities
- Mental health service users
- Substance misusers
- Unemployed
- Young people under 25
- People with asthma and COPD
Our new stop smoking service will play a key role in supporting Haringey’s tobacco control programmes and will help to contribute to reducing health inequalities through supporting and empowering people to improve their health and wellbeing.
As well as providing the treatment element to stop smoking, we will also be coordinating a range of activities to deliver a prevention component, specifically within the target groups by partnering with local lifestyle behaviour change programmes such Health Trainers and Health Champions.
Dr. Jeanelle de Gruchy, Director of Public Health, Haringey Council said:
“We are confident that Haringey’s new smoking cessation services, which includes a range of new and innovative types of support, will help more residents to kick the habit. We are particularly excited about the potential for a new, online face-to-face consultation tool and a Smokefreelife mobile clinic to extend this support as widely as possible among the community.”
